Fraudster cheats man of  Rs. 1.98 lakh on the pretext of activating credit card

Mysore/Mysuru: A fraudster has cheated a businessman of Rs. 1.98 lakh on the pretext of activating his credit card online.

The businessman, who was cheated, is 32-year-old K.J. Shreyams of Hotel Sai Vihar Inn and Suites at Nazarbad. Shreyams’ father had received a credit card from Bank of Baroda via speed post.

Shreyams received a call from Mobile No: 95833-21692 and the caller who identified himself as a Bank staff told him that he would be activating the credit card and collected the One Time Password (OTP) sent to Shreyams’ mobile phone. When the OTP was revealed, a total of Rs. 1,98,146 was siphoned off from the credit card. A case has been registered at City’s Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police Station.
