Two-day international conclave on clean fuels inaugurated in city

Mysore/Mysuru: A two-day international conclave of clean fuels – 2022, organised by the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in collaboration with German organisations Tec4Fuels and OWI- Science for Fuels, was inaugurated at a private resort in city yesterday. The conclave was inaugurated by Y.B. Ramakrishna, expert and member of Bio-Fuel working Committee, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.

Speaking after inaugurating the conclave, Ramakrishna said that in these days of increased fuel consumption, the Union Government was on a mission of providing alternatives and in this connection was organising many seminars under ‘National Bio-Tech Fuel Policy-2018,’ which is in pursuit of Technical Development, new ideas and new policies.  “For the first time, a conclave is being held outside Delhi, to create awareness among investors and people of the southern region. NIE is organising this two day conclave which is beneficial to the fuel industry as well as the general public,” he added.

Expressing his satisfaction over the progress made in recent years towards attaining self-sufficiency in energy, Ramakrishna said that the production of Bio-Fuel is on the rise. “The Union Government has made amendments to Bio Tech Fuel Policy to increase the percentage of ethanol in petrol to 20 percent  and 5% in diesel. Fuel companies can now advance the date of increase the percentage of ethanol from 2025, instead of earlier 2030. The policy will come into effect from April 2023. The Union Government is also pushing for alternate fuels and is setting up more CNG Stations across India,” he concluded.
