Mysuru: City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao felt that if Police Stations have to become people-friendly, then the cooperation of the public is very essential. He was participating in the ‘Beat Police,’ programme organised at the Ganapati Temple premises in Brindavan Extension that comes under the V.V. Puram Police limits, here yesterday.

“The ‘Beat System’ has been introduced to solve the problems in your extension. This has been set up to control crime, traffic violations, road safety programmes, to gather information on unlawful activities and to interact with the Police personnel who have been deployed for the purpose,” he said.

The common citizens need not have to go to Police Stations carrying their problems. Instead, if the Beat Police and Citizens’ Committee are informed, the problems related to law and order, road safety and traffic can be solved, said Dr. Rao.

A poet’s meet had been organised on the occasion regarding the Police Department and Citizen’s responsibilities. Poets Jayappa Honnalli, M.D. Jayashankar, Dr. Yellappa K.K. Pura, Kodlapura Mahadeva Nayak, Dr. Vinodamma, Srikantesh, Dr. Palaniswamy, Hemaganga, Sugandamma and Devaraju Chikkahalli participated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. H.T. Shekar, ACP Umesh G. Seth, Traffic ACP Madaiah, V.V. Puram Inspector C.V. Ravi and Traffic Police Inspector H.R. Vivekananda were present on the occasion.
