Rider killed as KSRTC bus rams into bike

Srirangapatna: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot while the pillion rider sustained serious injuries when a KSRTC bus trying to overtake another bus reportedly rammed into the bike near Mogarahalli (Manti) on KRS-Mysuru Main Road yesterday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Aravind (27), an employee of a private firm at Belagola in Mysuru and a resident of Mogarahalli village. Seriously injured person, identified as Naveen, friend of Aravind, has been admitted to K.R. Hospital.

Aravind, after finishing his work yesterday afternoon, was proceeding to his house on his bike with his friend Naveen riding pillion, when the KSRTC bus, which coming from Mysuru side, tried to overtake another bus and reportedly hit the bike.

As a result, the two-wheeler which got caught in the bus bumper, was dragged to a distance resulting in Aravind being killed on the spot.

KRS Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted injured Naveen to K.R. Hospital and the body of Aravind to MMC&RI mortuary, besides registering a case.

Irate public protest

Meanwhile, the public including Aravind family members, who gathered at the accident spot, staged a protest and expressed their anger demanding action.

They also demanded compensation be paid to the family members of deceased Aravind and a Government job to one of the family members of Aravind.

KSRTC Depot Manager, who arrived at the spot, assured of taking forward their demands to the higher authorities and providing compensation to the family members of deceased Aravind.
