Male leopard caught in Hunsur

A male leopard was trapped in a net that was laid to protect jowar crop at Aswal village near Hunsur on the night of July 27. The eight-year-old leopard had entered the field in the night searching for prey when it got entangled in the net. Hearing loud cries of the feline, a farmer spotted the animal at 4 pm. He immediately alerted the Forest Department Officials. A team of officials arrived at the spot and Officer Karumbaiah fired a tranquilliser based on the directions of veterinarian Dr. Umashankar. As the leopard reacted ferociously, one more dart was fired at it. It was released from the trap and was shifted to Nagarahole National Park.
