Merits of ‘Ambaari’ design

November 7, 2023

Sir,

This refers to the letter ‘Set right design flaw of Ambaari by next Dasara’ (Star of Mysore dated Nov. 3) and also Editor’s Note thereunder. A hue and cry is being made out of the impediment for sightseeing being caused by the front high board on the upper deck of ‘Ambaari’ bus and that visitors have to be satisfied with the side view or turn back and watch the wonderful illumination, etc. But there are merits and a slight material change can bring about relief:

1. The tough glass shield protects those sitting in the front from getting hurt from any kind of hanging branches or twigs of trees or cables, en route. From what we know, authorities concerned have, in advance, surveyed the ‘Ambaari’ route and taken care to prune the overhanging branches/dry twigs, as also wires/cables etc. Still, due to the vagaries of nature, anything can happen. Better to adopt ‘prevention is better than cure’.

2. The front glass shield also protects the eyes of those sitting in the front seats from air blasts/dust etc., while the bus is moving. It is akin to the front glass shield of a car we drive.  These inconveniences can be corrected by replacing the front tinted glass with coloured advertisement wordings, with clear glass without ad-material so that a clear view is available to all those sitting atop ‘Ambaari.’
