Three youths meet watery grave at Kapila River in Nanjangud

Nanjangud: Three youths, who had gone for a swim met their watery grave in the Kapila River, near the bridge at Godhdhanapura in the taluk yesterday evening.

The deceased youths have been identified as Milan (22), Mohan (25) and Tarun (19), all from Bihar. It is learnt that the youths were working on contract basis at a factory in Nanjangud.

The youths, after venturing into the water were caught in the whirlpool and drowned.

Nanjangud Rural Police, who reached the spot after being informed by the villagers, summoned Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who conducted a search operation till late in the evening and stopped as it was dark.

The search operation resumed this morning and the body of Milan was fished out. Search is underway to trace and fish out the remaining two bodies.

A case has been registered at Nanjangud Rural Police Station.
