‘Rotary Adarsha Shikshaka’ awards presented to teachers

Mysore/Mysuru: Devaraja Girls PU College Principal Dr. M.G. Ramanand, Kuvempunagar KPS (Karnataka Public School)  Associate teacher Basavaraj and H.D. Kote Taluk Bachegowdanahalli Government Higher Primary School Associate Teacher B.B. Savitha were conferred with ‘Rotary Adarsha Shikshaka’ award at a programme organised by Rotary Mysore North at Rotary Bhavan in Vijayanagar  Railway Layout, marking the Teachers’ Day yesterday.

Speaking after felicitating the teachers, Mysuru South Zone BEO M.R. Anantharaju said Teachers Day is celebrated throughout the country marking the birth anniversary of late President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, who was a great teacher.

Stating that the Government selects teachers after inviting  applications for Best Teacher Award every year, he said that  the Rotary should be lauded for identifying the achiever teachers on their own and felicitate them.

Anantharaju further said that the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has been presenting District-level Best Teacher Awards and also felicitating more than 150 retired teachers every year.

Rtn. L.R. Mahadevaswamy presented a laptop to talented Engineering student Satish on the occasion. 

Rotary Mysore North President Rtn. M. Chandrashekar, office-bearers A.V.Virupaksha, B.R. Shivakumar, Raju, M.K. Nanjaiah, Ramprasad, Anand and others were present.

Retired teachers feted

As part of Teachers Day celebration, retired teachers V. Satyavathi and M.S. Jayadeva were felicitated by Mysuru Travels Association (MTA) at a programme held at its premises yesterday. MTA President B.S. Prashanth, Hon. President C.A. Jayakumar, former President H. Shivalingaiah, Vice-President P. David Raj, Secretary K. Manjunath and Anitha David Raj are also seen.
