Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the October to December-2025 campaign for settlement of unclaimed deposits in Bank accounts, the State Bank of India (SBI), the Lead Bank, Mysuru, launched a drive at Zilla Panchayat (ZP) auditorium in city yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Lead Bank SBI Chief Manager Vadiraj Deshpande said that the campaign has been launched with the theme ‘Your Money, Your Right.’ Pointing out that the campaign will help the customers who have forgotten money in their old bank accounts to get back their deposits, he said that the Lead Bank has launched unclaimed deposits identification and enrolment campaign.

“There is a total of Rs. 157.33 crore unclaimed money in 5,05,424 accounts in 534 branches of 31 Banks in Mysuru district as on Aug. 31, 2025. The pendency has been shared with the Banks. 100 DEAF (Depositor Education and Awareness Fund) accounts per branch will be achieved during the campaign period,” he noted.

DEAF fund, is managed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Banks transfer the money from any account that has been inactive for 10 years or more to this special fund. Depositors can reclaim their money by visiting their bank with the required identification documents.

Stating that SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Karnataka Grameena Bank and Karnataka Banks have the most number of inactive accounts, Deshpande said, Canara Bank topped the list with 1,22,559 accounts having total deposit of Rs. 44.38 crore, followed by SBI with 85,061 accounts, having a total deposit of Rs. 43.86 crore. He appealed the customers to visit their bank for clearing their unclaimed deposits in their old bank accounts.

RBI Manager Jeevika, who also addressed the press meet, said that the Banks should strive for making this campaign successful. The Banks should also ensure that the pendency is cleared during the campaign.
