Seminar on Kuvempu’s legacy in New Delhi on Dec. 17

CM Siddaramaiah to release Hindi version of Kuvempu’s ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam’

Mysore/Mysuru: City-based Kuvempu Vishwamanava Kshemabhivruddhi Trust, in association with Delhi Karnataka Sangha, will host a National Seminar on Rashtrakavi Kuvempu’s life, achievements, and literary legacy at the Sangha office in New Delhi on Dec. 17, announced Trust’s Honorary Advisor and veteran littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK).

Addressing a press meet in Mysuru yesterday, Dr. CPK said the event will be inaugurated by Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji. The programme will be graced by Beli Mutt Seer Shivarudra Swamiji and Kengeri Vishwa Vokkaligara Mutt Seer Nischalanandanatha Swamiji.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will unveil Kuvempu’s portrait and release the Hindi version of the epic Sri Ramayana Darshanam. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Union Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy, Pralhad Joshi, V. Somanna and Shobha Karandlaje, MLA G.T. Devegowda, former University of Mysore and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa and Andhra Pradesh Income Tax Principal Commissioner Jayaram Rayapura will participate, he said.

The valedictory session will be held at 3.30 pm on the same day and will be inaugurated by former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. The session will be attended by Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Muktidanandaji, Sphatikapuri Mutt Seer Nanjavadhoota Swamiji and Madara Channaiah Mutt Seer Basavamurthy Madara Channaiah Swamiji.

BJP National Organising Secretary B.L. Santosh will release the book Sriranga: Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Avara Sahitya Avalokana. Dr. CPK  added that a memorandum will be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Government to confer the posthumous Bharat Ratna on poet laureate Kuvempu.

Senior writer and former University of Mysore Prasaranga Director Prof. C. Naganna, Trust President H.K. Ramu, Honorary Advisor K.T. Veerappa, Dr. L. Devegowda, and Vokkaliga Vikasa Vedike representative H.L. Yamuna were also present.
