‘Yaari and Yaadein’ held in memory of singer Prashant Tamang

Bylakuppe: An evening of music, memories and deep emotion unfolded at the Tibetan Settlement in Bylakuppe recently as friends, fans and fellow musicians gathered for Losar Musical Night ‘Yaari and Yaadein,’ a tribute concert held in loving memory of the late singer Prashant Tamang. The concert drew a large crowd who came together to celebrate his life and legacy.

Prashant Tamang (4 January 1983 – 11 January 2026), a singer and film actor based in Kathmandu, was the winner of Indian Idol Season 3 in 2007.

The musical evening was organised by Tenzin Choedar, a close friend of Prashant Tamang. Speaking at the event, Tenzin shared that the concert was not just a tribute, but ‘a celebration of friendship, music and the unforgettable memories Prashant left behind.’

What made the evening especially moving was that every artiste who performed shared a personal bond with Prashant Tamang. The stage became a space not only for music but also for shared stories, laughter and moments of silence in remembrance.

Among the prominent performers was Amit Paul, the first runner-up of Indian Idol, whose emotional renditions touched the hearts of the audience. He reminisced about their journey together during the competition and the deep camaraderie they shared.

Fellow Season 3 finalists Abhishek Kumar, Parleen Singh Gill and Puja Chatterjee also graced the stage, each dedicating performances to their dear friend. Their collective presence symbolised the enduring bond formed during their time on the iconic reality show.

The popular band Mountain Souls delivered powerful live performances that energised the crowd, while Karma Sherpa, known for his appearance on SaReGaMaPa, mesmerised the audience with soulful melodies.

Yaari and Yaadein was a testament to enduring friendship and the lasting impact of music. The evening reaffirmed that while Prashant Tamang may no longer be physically present, his voice, spirit and legacy continue to inspire countless admirers.
