Mason loses vision after being assaulted by Head Constable

K.R. Nagar: A man, who had gone to a bar to fetch liquor, was allegedly assaulted by a Head Constable (HC) in mufti resulting in the man losing his vision.

While the man, who lost his vision, is R. Swamy, a mason involved in laying tiles and a resident of Basavanahalli village near Belavadi in Mysuru taluk, the Head Constable, who assaulted Swamy is Parashuram.

Though the victim lodged a complaint with the Police, the Cops were dilly dallying to register a case, it is learnt.

In his complaint, Swamy has stated that following a festival at his friend’s place he had gone to Harsha Bar on Mysuru-Hassan Road to purchase liquor during which a small quarrel took place.

He further stated that when he walked out of the bar, Head Constable Parashuram, who came on a bike in mufti, kicked him (Swamy) and when he pleaded that he has undergone treatment to his eye, Parashuram, who did not pay heed to his words, hit him near his eye with his fist  causing a wound.

Later, Swamy got himself admitted to a hospital and the doctor, who performed surgery, told him that his left eye has been completely damaged and added that he now faces a bleak future with his wife and two daughters to be taken care of.

Swamy alleged that though the incident took place a week ago, Police are yet to register a case against Head Constable Parashuram and added that Parashuram was threatening him to take back the complaint.

Meanwhile, Inspector Shivaprakash said that an FIR has been registered against Head Constable Parashuram and added that staff of the bar Madhusudhan has been named as Accused-1 (A1), Ravi as A2 and HC Parashuram has been named as A3 in the FIR.
