Blood Donation Camp to mark National Cancer Survivors Day

June 11, 2026

Mysuru: Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO), Mysuru, will organise a blood donation camp on June 13 from 10 am to 5 pm at the hospital premises here as part of the observance of National Cancer Survivors Day.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about cancer survivorship and encourage voluntary blood donation to support patients undergoing treatment and others requiring lifesaving transfusions.

National Cancer Survivors Day is observed to honour the courage, resilience and achievements of cancer survivors while recognising the invaluable support provided by families, caregivers and healthcare professionals throughout their journey.

Dr. C.B. Avinash, Chief Medical Oncologist at BHIO, called upon the public to participate in the camp. “Be the reason someone survives. Cancer survivors are living proof that hope is stronger than cancer. This National Cancer Survivors Day, let your blood donation become a lifeline for patients battling cancer and other critical illnesses. Join the blood donation camp and turn compassion into action,” he said.

Gowtham Dhamerla, Chief Operating Officer of BHIO, said the occasion serves as a reminder of the strength shown by cancer survivors and the importance of community support.  He appealed eligible donors, students, employees, social organisations and members of the public to participate in the noble cause.

Those who want to donate blood may contact Mob: 90121-12190.
