Sir,
The ever-increasing volume of traffic on Kalidasa Road has made it extremely difficult and unsafe for pedestrians to cross the road, particularly for seniors.
Every day, the situation worsens, causing anxiety and inconvenience to those who need to access the establishments along this busy stretch.
The section between Panchavati Circle and Chandrakala Hospital houses several banks, medical facilities, pharmacies and commercial establishments that are frequently visited by elderly residents. Unfortunately, crossing this road has become a daunting task.
Two-wheelers and four-wheelers zip past the pedestrians crossing the road, with little concern for people attempting to cross, leaving pedestrians to wait for long periods or take unwarranted risks.
Considering the ever-increasing traffic density, the civic authorities should take urgent measures to improve pedestrian safety.
Constructing elevated pedestrian crossings at suitable locations would greatly enhance safety and convenience, especially for senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities.
It is hoped that the authorities will recognise the seriousness of this issue and take prompt action and save the pedestrians to safely cross this road.
