‘Sangeeta Kalottunga’ award conferred

Mysuru: The second day of Kalabhivardhana-2017, organised by Kala Sandesha Prathishtana in association with Kannada and Culture Department, at Jaganmohan Palace last evening, witnessed conferring of ‘Sangeeta Kalottunga’ award on Padma Bhushan Dr. L. Subramaniam, internationally acclaimed violinist.

Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji, Junior Pontiff of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama, Avadhoota Datta Peetham, graced the occasion.

The Swamiji said that Dr. Subramaniam was closely associated with the Ashrama and the violinist was awarded ‘Naada Chakravarthi’ title by Sri Ganapathy Swamiji.

Stating that Sri Ganapathy Swamiji had immense interest in music,  Datta Vijayananda Swamiji said that the Senior Seer every day listens to the music played by  Dr. Subramaniam.

Mentioning that Sri Ganapathy Swamiji had said that Dr. Subramaniam was an incarnation of music, Datta Swamiji wished the violinst gets Bharat Ratna as said by Vid. R.S. Nandakumar.

Rajya Sangeeta Vidwan Dr. R. Satyanarayana, renowned musicologist and Kala Seva Ratna K.V Murthy, art patron, were present as the chief guests.

The event was presided over by Gayana Gandharva Vid. Dr. R.S. Nandakumar, Karnataka Music exponent and President of Sangeeta Kalottunga Award Committee and the members of Sangeetha Kalottunga Award Committee and renowned Musicians of Mysuru — Vid. H.K. Narasimha Murthy, Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, Vid. K.P. Upadhyaya, Vidu. Rohini Subbaratnam, Vidu. Rajalakshmi Sridhar, Vid. G.S. Ramanujam, Vid. R.K. Padmanabha and Vid. Bellary Raghavendra and K. Sandesh Bhargav of the Prathishtana were also present.

The evening also witnessed the soothing violin concert by Dr. L. Subramaniam.

The three-day event will conclude today with a Classical Dance Ballet ‘Moulyanidhi Bheemasena’ by K. Sandesh Bhargav at 6 pm.
