City’s religious heads join hands for clean Mysuru top rank

December 9, 2017

Mysuru: The religious heads of all communities came together on a single platform and promised to work hard to see that Mysuru regains the cleanest city tag in the country. It was a historic occasion to see the religious leaders who are the conscience of the society as they are involved in spiritual, health and education field to fight for the cause of cleanliness.

The all-religious leaders Swachhata convention was held yesterday at the Sri Suttur Mutt Ashram at the foot of Chamundi Hill under the chairmanship of Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji. They assured that they would give full support to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to create awareness among the people about the importance of keeping the city clean.

Suttur Seer speaking on the occasion said that Mysuru city had bagged the top ran in the country successively twice in the past but had slipped to fifth spot last year. However, in the Swachh Survekshan survey to be conducted in January 2018, Mysuru should regain the first rank. “All religious leaders have vowed to come together for this great cause. MCC should utilise their cooperation properly,” he said.

The Seer pointed out that it is very vital for the public to participate in the survey and give a balanced opinion, which could tilt the result in favour of the city. The tech-savvy present generation can use the mobile WhatsApp to participate in the survey, he said.

He asked the people to segregate the wet and dry waste instead of throwing it in the neighbour’s house or vacant sites and give it to the Corporation’s garbage collectors. “We are ready to be a part of the Swachh campaign and motivate the people at any time of the day or night,” he said.
