Abetting crime: Mandya Jail Superintendent suspended

Mandya: Mandya Jail Superintendent Satish, accused in abetting a crime by providing a cell-phone and other items to an inmate in jail, has been suspended. One Shiva was sentenced to imprisonment in the jail for allegedly involved in murdering an entrepreneur H.P. Nagendra. Satish was said to have helped Shiva by illegally providing him a cellphone, using which Shiva had reportedly plotted to kill one Kumar through a woman rowdy-sheeter Bhagya.

Mandya West Police on interrogating Bhagya and another Raghu learnt about the plot to kill Kumar.

SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy recently raided Mandya jail and learnt that Shiva was in procession of a cellphone, expensive cigarettes and chocolates and also observed that a few inmates were serving Shiva with obeisance. Consequently Shiva was shifted to Ballari jail.

Based on the report submitted by the SP, DGP (Prisons) suspended Satish, who has been replaced by Tumakuru Jail Superintendent Lokesh who assumed charge yesterday.
