Mysore/Mysuru: Disappointed over the delay in the appointment of Vice-Chancellor (VC) for University of Mysore (UoM), members of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) staged a demonstration in front of Crawford Hall here recently.
Maintaining that the UoM is one of the prestigious Universities of the State and has its own history, the protestors alleged that several activities of the University have come to a standstill in the absence of the VC. Expressing disappointment over the delay in the appointment of faculty, they said that this has given rise to several problems in academic activities.
Claiming that the delay in the VC appointment and the administrative failure on the part of the University Council throws light on the anti-student policy of the University, the protestors wanted the Government and the Governor-Chancellor to intervene and appoint the VC soon. Later, the students presented a memorandum to Registrar V.R. Shylaja.
ABVP Office-bearers Aishwarya, Shreyas, Prajwal, Datta Sudarshan, Subash and others led the stir.
