Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital early this morning after being attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence, which he shares with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor.
The actor suffered serious injuries during an alleged burglary attempt at his Mumbai home around 2.30 am while he was sleeping with his family. Sources said that the attacker remained at Khan’s residence overnight and attempted to enter his son Jeh’s room. When the caretaker screamed, Khan rushed in, leading to a confrontation.
Dr. Neeraj Uttmani, Chief Operating Officer at Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Khan arrived at the hospital at 3.30 am. “He has six wounds, two of which are quite deep. The surgery was carried out by Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain,” the medical team said.
The surgery was successful, and Khan will be kept in the ICU for a day. Doctors confirmed that the actor is out of danger. They explained that the surgery was necessary to stop leakage from the spine wound. Also, a part of the knife that was lodged inside the actor’s body was subsequently removed.
Mumbai Police confirmed that an unidentified intruder entered Khan’s residence, leading to confrontation. Investigation is on, with teams from Bandra Police, Crime Branch and Forensic experts examining the scene.
