Mysore Bar Association condemns shoe-hurling on Supreme Court CJI
Mysuru, Oct. 8 (GA&DM)- Strongly condemning the act of a senior Supreme Court Advocate hurling a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai in a Supreme Court (SC) Courtroom on Monday, city Advocates boycotted the Court proceedings for the day and staged a protest under the aegis of Mysore Bar Association, in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust, opposite City Law Courts Complex here this morning.
The Advocates, who assembled in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust after boycotting the Court proceedings, staged the demonstration by holding placards denouncing SC Advocate Rakesh Kishore’s act of hurling a shoe at CJI B.R. Gavai and raising slogans against the accused Advocate and in support of the CJI. They registered their protest by burning placards that carried photographs of accused Rakesh Kishore and demanded that he be punished stringently for his disgraceful act.
Mysore Bar Association President S. Lokesh, Vice-President M.V. Chandrashekar, office-bearers K.R. Charanraj, A.G. Sudheer and others were present.
In another protest over the same issue, members of various progressive and Dalit organisations staged a demonstration near Mahatma Gandhi’s bust and demanded severe punishment to Advocate Rakesh Kishore.
Former Rangayana Directors Janardhan (Janni) and C. Basavalingaiah, journalist T. Gururaj, farmer leader Hoskote Basavaraj, DSS leader Harihara Anandaswamy and others were present.
