Mysore/Mysuru: The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) with a series of programmes aimed at promoting the rights, dignity and well-being of persons with disabilities.
Chief guest Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), praised AIISH for being a driving force behind several transformative initiatives. He said the institute has evolved into a platform for achievement, a pathway for shaping the future and a space where challenges are addressed with curiosity and resilience. Every child has unique abilities, he stressed, adding that parental support and timely intervention can lead to remarkable progress.
He said, providing essential facilities is a collective responsibility and lauded mothers of children with disabilities as embodiments of strength and compassion.
Gaurav Kumar Garg, Global Sensor Production Guide, speaking on behalf of Dr. Alok Sinha, Country Head – India, Frauscher Group, said it was an honour to be at an institution that has transformed countless lives through scientific excellence and empathy.
On the occasion, the Frauscher Group distributed Cochlear Accessories worth Rs. 3 lakh and 220 hearing aids valued at Rs. 15 lakh, all free of cost.
AIISH Director Dr. M. Pushpavathi highlighted the various programmes conducted by the institute for persons with disabilities. During the event, individuals who had availed clinical services at AIISH and made notable contributions to society were felicitated. Best Mother Awards and academic achievers with disabilities were also honoured.
Hearing aids, cochlear implant accessories and other assistive devices were distributed to individuals with hearing impairment.
