Mysuru:  AKKN (Akhila Karnataka Kuchipudi Nrithyotsava), a Mega Dance Festival has been organised in city on Mar.3 by Natyasaraswathi Kuchipudi Dance Academy and an NGO from Bengaluru, headed by Dr. Saraswathi Rajathesh, a Dental doctor, who holds Masters in Dance. Since 2009, the Festival showcased more than 500 dancers and teachers invited from across the country.

The present year will be the 10th addition to be held at KSGH Music and Performing Arts University (10 am onwards) and Jaganmohan Palace (4 pm onwards) in Mysuru on Mar.3 inviting artistes from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

On the occasion, ‘Kuchipudi Natyasaraswathi Puraskar – 2018’ will be conferred on Guru Pasumarthy Keshava Prasad and Guru Veena Samaga (Udupi). Also, ‘Sahitya Saraswathi Award’ will be presented to Vizai Bhaskar (Director of Cultural Affairs, Andhra Pradesh)

Disciples of Dr. Saraswathi, Dr. Veena, Shivaprasad, Dr. Vasant Kiran, Dharani, Sudha and Karpargam, etc., will perform. The Festival also features special performances by Guru Deepa Narayan, Amarnath  Ghosh, Sambasiva Rao and Kavyakala.

Kuchupudi-Manipuri Dance Fusion will be a special attraction by Uma and Angabala.

Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy (Mysuru),  Dr. Sarvamangala Shankar (VC of Music University) and Vizai Bhaskar (Director of Cultural Affairs, Andhra Pradesh) will be the guests of honour. The event will be anchored by Dr. Chetana Radhakrishna and Badri Bhushan, noted dancers of Mysuru.

The event is supported by the Department of Kannada & Culture, Mysuru, Telugu Samskritika Samithi, Department of Culture, Andhra Pradesh and KSGH Music and Performing Arts University, Mysuru.
