All-India Inter-University Women’s Cricket: BCCI President Roger Binny to inaugurate tourney in city tomorrow

JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) and the Association of Indian Universities have jointly organised six-day All India Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Women 2022-23 between Apr. 5 and 11 at different grounds in city.

Announcing this at a press meet held at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, JSS STU Vice-Chancellor Dr. A.N. Santhosh Kumar said that the tournament is organised marking the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) which was established by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny will inaugurate the tournament at JSS KSCA Cricket Grounds in JSS STU campus in city at 4.30 pm on Apr. 5 in the presence of Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.

Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary (YA & Sports), Association of Indian Universities, will preside. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Prof. M.H. Dhananjaya, Advisor, Technical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Dr. B. Suresh, Director, Technical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Dr. A.N. Santosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, JSS STU, will be the guests of honour. Dr. S.A. Dhanaraj, Registrar, JSS STU; Dr. S.B. Kivade, Principal and Dean (Engineering & Technology), SJCE and Dr. C. Revanna, Director, Physical Education Division will be present.

Women’s cricket teams from 16 Universities across the country (4 Universities from each zone) will be participating in the tournament. The cricket matches will be held at Gangothri Glades, JSS AHER Grounds, Maharaja’s College Grounds and JSS STU Grounds on all the days.

The final match will be held on Apr. 11 at JSS KSCA Cricket Grounds. Prizes for the winning team will be distributed at a stage programme to be held at the Seminar Hall in JSS STU premises at 3 pm on Apr. 11.

JSS STU Registrar Dr. S.A. Dhanaraj, Principal Dr. S.B. Kivade and Tournament Convenor Dr. C. Revanna were present at the press meet.
