Amidst speculations on leadership change, BJP top brass summons CM Bommai

December 21, 2021

Bengaluru: Amid speculations on change of leadership in the State, the BJP top brass is said to have summoned Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to Delhi either on Dec.24 or 25.

Talks about leadership change is reportedly doing the rounds in the corridors of power both at Bengaluru and New Delhi ever since the Bitcoin scam came to the fore two months ago. Soon as the scam broke out,  Bommai  had visited Delhi a couple of times then reportedly to explain the party top brass about the stance of the Government regarding the alleged scam.

The Delhi call up comes just a day after CM Basavaraj Bommai made an emotional speech at his Shiggoan Assembly Constituency in Haveri district on Sunday, when he said that power and positions are not eternal and he would remain only as Bommai to the people when he comes to the Constituency.

Adding credence to the speculations, Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, who had shared the stage with the CM, dropped a bombshell when he said that Bommai would become a Union Minister sooner or later.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Bommai, who is suffering from chronic pain of the knees, is likely to go to USA for surgical  treatment in the second week of January and is expected to take rest at least for a couple of months post surgery. This has also led to speculations about replacement of Bommai as such a long absence will affect development and  administration and the BJP will have to pay a heavy price for it in the Assembly polls which is just 15 months away.
