Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfillment of their various demands, which chiefly included payment of Rs. 21,000 as minimum wages, Anganwadi workers, under the joint banner of Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers Association and Karnataka State Akshara Dasoha Workers Association, staged a massive demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday.
Raising slogans against the Government, the Anganwadi workers urged the Government to fulfil their demands which included Rs. 21,000 minimum wages, Rs. 10,000 pension, health benefits, save Anganwadis under the new National Education Policy (NEP), formation of a separate Directorate for Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and employment on compassionate grounds to kin of Anganwadi workers who died during service, among others.
Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) District President Balaji Rao, General Secretary Jayaram and others took part in the protest.
