Mysuru: The Mysuru Yoga Association has welcomed MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar’s proposal to establish a Yoga Museum in Mysuru.
Acknowledging the long-standing patronage of the Mysore Maharajas in fostering the ancient art of Yoga, the Association expressed gratitude for Yaduveer’s initiative to convert the old Deputy Commissioner’s Office into a dedicated Yoga Museum.
Responding to the appreciation, Yaduveer mentioned that representatives of the Association had sought his support in organising Yoga-related programmes. He assured them of his full cooperation in these efforts.
Additionally, he assured the Association that he would make efforts to realise several proposals aimed at strengthening Mysuru’s status as the Yoga Capital by establishing a Yoga University in Mysuru, installing a statue of senior Yoga Guru Krishnamacharya, naming a road or circle after Pattabhi Jois, a renowned Yoga teacher.
In addition, he would make efforts to incorporate mandatory Yoga education in schools, provide a monthly stipend for economically disadvantaged Yoga teachers, allocate housing sites for exceptional yet landless Yoga teachers and publishing works on Mysuru’s rich Yoga tradition
Yaduveer emphasised that Mysuru will take several steps to elevate its Yoga heritage to a global level. He assured that discussions with experts in the field will be held to make well-informed decisions.
