Storm water drains filled up with concrete

Sir,

After a long time, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is beautifying the pavement between Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) and the Corporation Commissioner’s residence in Yadavagiri. This was much needed and the residents in the neighbourhood are thankful for the same.

However, it is disappointing to notice that the size of the pavement has been shrunk by more than a foot to widen the road. This will endanger pedestrians who are likely to walk on the road.

Also, the raised pavement on a small road is likely to be hazardous to motorists, especially two-wheeler riders.

For some inexplicable reasons, the pavement has been entirely done away with in front of the MCC Commissioner’s house and water overflowing from tankers is destroying the Railway property, needless to say built with tax-payers’ money, on an hourly basis.

Shockingly (and illegally too?)MCC has chosen to fill up the storm water drains with concrete. That this should all happen in front of the Corporation Commissioner’s house and not very far from the home of the Corporator of Ward No.18, is a sad commentary.

Hope, the MCC Commissioner will look into these ad hoc cosmetic moves before it is too late.
