Better use vaccine for booster dose than wasting them

December 21, 2021

Sir,

Apropos the headline in Star of Mysore dated  Dec. 19 which inter alia informs that forty thousand doses of covid-19 vaccines are wasted and DHO claims it is negligible.

Well, I am of the opinion that instead of wasting the vaccine doses which take time, energy and money to manufacture in the labs, the Central Government can immediately issue instructions for administering of 3rd /booster doses to people who had taken the second dose more than six months back, charging for the dose appropriately. In that way, the vaccine doses don’t get wasted, earn money instead and provide increased immunisation for the people to thwart the infection of covid-19, be it Delta or Omicron.

The District Health authorities concerned need to give feedback in this regard to the higher authorities through their proper channels.
