Mysuru: Nadavidyalaya – Academy of Music and Dance, Hebbal, Mysuru, has organised Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of M.R. Dhanya (daughter of M.N. Poornima and G.M. Rajashekar), disciple of Vidu. Mithra Naveen, at Jaganmohan Palace in city on Mar. 15 at 5.30 pm.
Dr. Sri Trinetra Mahantha Shivayogi Swamiji, Peethadhipati, Baby Mutt & DMS Chandravana Ashram, Prof. M. Krishnegowda, renowned humourist and retired Principal of St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru and Natyacharya Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao, Artistic Director, Noopura Kalavidaru Trust, Mysuru, will be the guests of honour.
Guru Vidu. Mithra Naveen will be felicitated in Guru Vandana. Programme direction, Choreography, Nattuvangam will be by Vidu. Mithra Naveen, Vid. Naveen M.S. Andagar on vocal, Vid. Vivek Krishna (Bengaluru) on flute, Vid. G.S. Nagraj (Bengaluru) on mridanga and Dr. Bhuvaneshwari (Mysuru) – Master Compere, will accompany Dhanya for her maiden solo dance performance.
Profile: Dhanya, daughter of G.M. Rajashekar and M.N. Poornima, has been learning Bharatanatyam for the past 18 years from Guru Vidu. Mithra Naveen. Dhanya has completed her Junior, Senior and Pre-Vidwat Examinations conducted by KSEEB and is currently pursuing post-Vidwat. She has also completed her Junior Grade in Karnatak Classical vocal.
She has completed her Bachelor’s in Food Nutrition and Dietetics from JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru. She graduated in 2023 and gained a Master’s in Food Science and Technology (Food Safety Management) from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK.
Dhanya has performed in several dance dramas in many prestigious platforms under the direction, choreography and guidance of her Guru Mithra Naveen. She has performed in an International Conference at St. Philomena’s College, Guru Raghavendra Vaibhava, a live musical dance ballet held in ‘The Bhavan,’ London.
