Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of Pooja Sugam tomorrow

Mysuru: Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of Pooja Sugam, disciple and daughter of Dr. Kripa Phadke, will be held at Kalamandira in city on Mar.16 at 6 pm, under the aegis of Nrityagiri Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre, Mysuru.

She will be accompanied by Guru Dr. Kripa Phadke (natuvanga), Vidu. Rajeshwari Pandit (vocal), Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy (mridanga), Vid. A.P. Krishna Prasad (flute) and Vid. Dasappa (morching).

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. MMK&SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya Principal Prof. Sainath Malligemadu and writer from Mandya Dr. Pradeep Kumar Hebri will  be the chief guests.

PROFILE

Born as the daughter of renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Dr. Kripa Phadke and Vijayakumar of Department of Posts (Railway Mail Service), Pooja Sugam is bestowed with the graceful art forms of Music and Dance.

Being a bonafide student of Nrityagiri, Pooja is imbibing techniques of traditional Bharatanatyam in Pandanallur style from her mother. She has accomplished her Pre-Proficiency Grade of Examination from KSEEB. Presently, she is pursuing her dance in Proficiency Grade.

She is learning Karnatak Classical Music under the tutelage of Vidu. Bhagyalakshmi and Hindustani Music under Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath.  She has completed Junior Grade Exam in Karnatak Music and presently practicing Senior Grade.

She has had her academic schooling at Daisy Convent, Mysuru and further studied at Sri Viveka Vidyalaya PU College, Mysuru and pursuing B.Sc final year degree at MMK&SDM Women’s College, Mysuru.

She has represented University of Mysore at Zonal, State and National-levels in Music and Dance competitions. She has enacted in prime roles in Dance-Dramas such as Buddham Sharanam Gacchami (as Buddha), Karaala Bete (as Shravana Kumara), Vande Mataram, Geethamruthaduhe Namaha, Karnataka Kala Deepthi, Madagada Kenchavva, Veera Vanitheyaru, Chitrangada and the like presented by Nrityagiri troupe. She has also enacted in the play ‘Lady Macbeth’ directed by Karthik of Rangayana, Mysuru.

She has been teaching music and dance to children at Shakthidhama and is an active member of Samskara Bharathi, Mysuru, a deemed National institution for preservation and promotion of culture.
