On the occasion of Independence Day, Naatya Sabha, Mysuru, has organised dance programmes tomorrow (Aug. 15) at Ganabharathi’s Ramagovind Kalavedike in Kuvempunagar at 5.30 pm.
The event will commence with a spectacular performance by Dr. Kripa Phadke and her disciples, and followed by an equally dazzling thematic presentation by team ‘Kalarpanam’ from Mysuru.
‘Bhavayami Raghuramam’
Dr. Kripa Phadke, Director of Nrityagiri, a versatile Bharatanatyam artiste, shall present, supported by her disciples, ‘Bhavayami Raghuramam’, which is a soulful and wholesome picturisation of the glory of Lord Srirama through the narration of important scenes from Ramayana. The brilliant poet, King of Travancore, Swathi Tirunal has provided a perfect pen picture of various episodes of Ramayana in a lucid manner.
‘Abigamya’ – In the Vedic scriptures the word ‘Shiva’ appears to define noble characteristics of a person attributing benevolent qualities of compassion, graciousness, generosity etc. However, this concept is personified in religious texts, and Shiva is worshipped as the supreme god. He is the manifestation of creator and destroyer. His and tales of Shiva-Shive are being brought to you as a thematic dance presentation ‘Abhigamya Tatvam Prati’, which depicts ‘Obeisance to Shiva’. This concept was developed and choreographed by brilliant, young dancers of the city — Apoorva G. Murthy, P. Shubhratha & R. Pavan Kumar — all of whom have undergone extensive training under renowned gurus and have achieved academic excellence in Bharatanatyam.
