Brain Bytes quiz contest: Jnanodaya PU College clinches top two spots

Mysore/Mysuru: Students of Jnanodaya PU College, Mysuru, secured the top two positions at Brain Bytes ’25, the annual quiz competition for PU students, hosted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, recently.

The team from Vijaya Vittala PU College bagged third place, putting up a strong competition.

Prof. M. S. K. Narahari Babu, President, Sadvidya Educational Institutions,who inaugurated the event, remarked, “India has always been a land of scientific wisdom” as he provided insights into ancient Mathematics, Astronomy and Cosmology.He cited various examples of mathematical and astronomical ideas in ancient Indian knowledge systems, including the Pythagorean theorem in Vedic texts, Aryabhatta’s calculation of π (pi), Rigvedic references to cosmic evolution, the Hanuman Chalisa’s interpretation of the Earth-Sun distance and the Varaha depiction indicating the spherical shape of the Earth long before modern era.

Expressing concern over the declining interest in pure sciences, he urged students to rekindle scientific curiosity, uphold values and pursue excellence with dedication.

Prof. Shekar Babu, Associate Dean, Amrita School of Arts, Humanities, Commerce and Business, encouraged students to cherish the experience and build meaningful memories.

Participants competed in five rounds reflecting knowledge, analytical skills, memory and teamwork: Riddles Round, Ctrl + Win (Logic & Reasoning, Connect-the-Dots, Buzzer Round (Audio-Visual) and Rapid-Fire.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 200 participants from 22 colleges competing for top honours.  The below three teams were declared winners and awarded trophies, mementos & cash prizes:

First prize: Ishpreet Singh & Y. Pradyumna Bhat, Jnanodaya PU College
