Bus shelter needed near Kamakshi Hospital

April 23, 2021

Sir,

The bus shelter on one side of the road near Kamakshi Hospital was removed while widening the road some years ago after which the KSRTC and MCC have not thought of putting up a new bus shelter.

But where is the location for buses to stop? The authorities are in a fix where to put up the bus stop. Once the bus shelter was removed, the parking space has been taken over by the cars of visitors to both the hospitals nearby and the buses are forced to halt in the middle of the road blocking other following vehicles.

This has been brought to the notice of KSRTC, MCC and Traffic Police in their monthly traffic grievances meets and through ‘Voice of the Reader’ in Star of Mysore earlier on several occasions but we find no decision taken by the authorities.

As a result, the sufferers are the passengers and the bus drivers who find no space to park. Now the KSRTC should relook into the situation and plan to shift the bus stop away from the hospitals to the space near the adjacent park and construct the bus shelters on both sides of the road.

It would be good if the local Corporator takes initiative to inspect the area and in the public interest submit his recommendations to the Traffic Police and KSRTC to find a solution and ease the situation. A proper bus stop must be located and a bus shelter erected at the right place without creating hindrance to moving the traffic.
