Srirangapatna: A Butterfly Park at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh has been proposed at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district, said Minister of Forest, Ecology and Environment Eshwar B. Khandre.

In his written reply to the question put forth by MLC Madhu G. Madegowda, Khandre said that he, along with Forest Department officials, visited the Butterfly Park at Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru in the month of February and collected information about it.

He has further stated that 1,500 sq. ft for butterfly breeding and 5,000 sq. ft. for public viewing will be reserved and added that the Butterfly Park is being built as part of the 2025-26 action plan.
