AITUC National Vice-President T. Narasimhan’s call to oust Government

Mysuru: The Centre’s NDA Government is implementing anti-people and anti-labour policies and this Government should be ousted out of power, said All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) National Vice-President T. Narasimhan. He was speaking after inaugurating the 35th All India RMS and MMS Employees Union MG & MTS Conference at K.R. Vanam’s Sri Rama Seva Urasu Mandali Kalyana Mantap here yesterday.

“The country is facing innumerable problems including poverty and unemployment. The Governments in power should try to mitigate such problems and make the life of common man easy. However, this Government is trying to implement several anti-people policies like linking of Aadhaar cards with several schemes thus jeopardising the life of people, de-monetisation and GST, and trying to snatch the freedom and rights of the people,” said Narasimhan.

British India was better: The Central Government is ignoring the public service schemes. Here it is trying to sideline the hard working people. 93 percent of the people in the country are in the unorganised sector. They have been deprived of minimum wages, ESI, PF and other facilities, he said.

During the pre-independent British rule of India, there were laws governing the working class. The labour class had their rights. However, in independent India, the condition of the working class is very grave,         regretted Narasimhan.

All are contract jobs now:  All the jobs in the country are slowly becoming contract jobs. As a result, there are no permanent jobs available and hence there is no job security. This uncertainty is bothering the working class a lot, he said.

Every year, nearly 1.25 crore graduates are in search of jobs. These youth are not getting the jobs according to their qualifications. The Government instead of facilitating the youth to get jobs, is pursuing anti-people policies and hence must be thrown out of power, he said.

The BJP and the right wing groups are keen on protecting their interests, while stamping out the Left wing ideas and rights, he complained.

Centre fails to protect employees’ interest: The Central Government has completely failed to protect the interests of the Govt. employees like pension, promotion and job security, alleged former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar . Due to the anti-labour policies of the Government, including the postal employees and the private sector employees’ conditions are pathetic. “I am always ready to work in the interest of labour,” he said.

National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) former General Secretary C.C. Pillai, Karnataka Circle Chief Post General Dr. Charles Lobo, NFPE President Giriraj Singh, Postal Accountants Union General Secretary S.B. Yadav and others were present.
