Centralised accounting system to be implemented at Nanjangud Temple soon

March 9, 2018

Mysuru:  Following irregularities at Sri Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud and arrest of temple employee for misusing the funds by producing fake bills for a number of services at the temple, the District Administration has planned to introduce ‘Centralised Accounting System’ soon.

In future, the temple authorities will have to produce computer generated bills and receipts for the payments received by the devotees for pujas and other services offered at the temple.

A committee under Sri Chamundeshwari Temple Executive Officer K.M. Prasad with Muzrai Department Tahsildar S.N. Yathiraj Sampathkumaran, Manager of Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry S. Govindaraju and Executive Officer of Sri Chamundeshwari Temple S. Nagaraj as members has been formed by the District Administration which will come out with a list of steps to be taken to bring in transparency and for computerisation of the billing system.

The committee, which studied the manual billing system, came up with a list of various pujas and rituals being performed in the temple and the fee for them.

The fee of Rs. 30 for Special Entrance and Rs. 100 for Direct Entry were also taken into account by the committee besides recording the systems in place for donation of sarees,  dhotis, gold, silver etc. by the devotees. The committee has also taken into account the cost involving in the distribution of prasadam.

The committee, after a thorough analysis, has suggested the District Administration that implementation of a Computerised Billing System and online booking of services and facilities at the temple including the Girija Kalyana Mahotsava, would bring in transparency and cited the adoption of online facilities at Male Mahadeshwara Temple at M.M. Hills and at Kukke Subramanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada as examples.

The Committee has suggested that the same model be adopted at Nanjangud Temple besides suggesting to include fees collection for footwear stand and prasadam in the system.
