Gold mangalsuthra worth Rs. 1,10,000 and scooter seized

Vijayanagar Police, on Mar. 13, have arrested two persons who were trying to sell a gold chain at Hotagalli here in a suspicious manner. The arrested have been identified as 26-year-old Manja of Hootagalli and 24-year-old Chandan of Kumbarakoppal in city.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of snatching a chain from a woman on Feb. 3 in Hunsur Town Police limits. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have seized a 40 grams gold mangalsuthra worth about Rs. 1,10,000 and a scooter used for the crime.

It is learnt that Manja has more than 23 chain-snatching cases booked against him at various Police Stations in Mysuru, Srirangapatna & T. Narasipur and was serving jail sentences before he came out on bail recently    only to indulge in chain-snatching activity again.

Vijayanagar Police Inspector A. Guruprasad, ASIs Krishna and Dhanraj and staff took part in the nabbing and seizing operation.
