Children display grit, confidence at OBRATS

Mysuru: Mysore Amity Ladies Circle-108, in collaboration with RE3 Command Fitness, had organised ‘OBRATS – An Obstacle Course Race for Children’ aged between 5 and 16 years at Mahajana College Grounds in Jayalakshmipuram this morning. Over 240 children participated in the challenging events that tested their strength, stamina, flexibility and endurance.

The participants were divided into four groups as per their age and gender — five and eight years and between nine years and 15 years of age. It was an event that put to test some of the fundamental physical abilities of a child and at the same time build self confidence.

OBRATS-1

 Participants were tested for resilience, focus on task completion and willingness to overcome adversity. 

There were many obstacles like Tyre Wall Climbing, Tarzan Jump, Log Carrying, and Monkey Bars. The event was flagged off by President of Ladies Circle India GLMF Circler Nidhi Gupta. 

Junior category registration fee was Rs.750 and for the Senior category, the fee was Rs.850. The event is a charity fund-raiser where the funds collected will be used to build two classrooms at Kyathanahalli Government School in H.D. Kote taluk.

The construction will start in January 2020 itself. 10 children from Nele Orphanage were given registration-free participation.

Kavya Kailash, Area 13 Charter Chairperson, Ladies Circle India, Tr. Kailash Kashinath, Area 13 Charter Chairman, Round Table India, Tr. Adith Raju, Chairman, Mysuru Amity Round Table 156, Tr. Kiran Ranga, Honorary Tabler, Mysore Amity  Round Table 156, Cr. Roopal Mehta, Chairperson, Mysuru Amity Ladies Circle 108 and others were present on the occasion. 

OBRATS-3

Prizes were distributed by Dr. Usha Hegde, city’s first woman to finish the Ironman Western Australia 2019 Triathlon.
