Chopper hit by bird, makes emergency landing

October 1, 2017

Mysuru: A Pavan Hans chopper with seven people including the pilot made an emergency landing during the second trip of the joy ride after the front right side glass shield shattered following a bird hit this morning.

The chopper, which took off from Lalitha Mahal helipad at about 10.15 am today, reportedly made an emergency landing after about 4 to 5 minutes after an eagle hit the front right side glass shield shattering it.

The presence of mind and the skills of the pilot helped the passengers to maintain calm and the pilot brought the chopper at Lalitha Mahal Helipad successfully. Blood stains were also found on the glass shield of the chopper.

Meanwhile, the pilots, DC D. Randeep and Pavan Hans officials were waiting for the senior officials of Pavan Hans to conduct inspection and for their report. The damaged chopper has been grounded and the joy rides are continued using the other chopper.
