Has more than 100 medals and prizes to his credit
Omkumar, a city Medical student, has reached great heights in his sporting career by winning more than 100 medals and prizes in various State, National and International level Swimming Competitions.
Hemakumar and Suchitra, residents of J.C. Nagar in city, are the proud parents of Omkumar who is a fourth year student of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI)
Omkumar, who is into Swimming since the age of 5, has so far participated in World Championship, Asian Games, All India Open category, Aquathlon and Triathlon events and has come out in flying colours.
The 22-year-old Medico has secured 64th rank in World Championship and 11th rank in Asian Games. He came first in the All India Open Swimming Competitions held in 2018.
At an Aquathlon event held in Chennai, Omkumar won third place in 1.5-km Swimming, along with a 5-km running race.
At a Triathlon event held in Kerala which included 1.5 km Swimming, 40-km Cycling and 20-km Running, he secured 14th rank.
Apart from these, he is winning the first prize in 16 categories at the Inter-University competitions for the last four years.
Omkumar still trains daily at the Swimming Pool of Chamundi Vihar Stadium without fail. He has reserved his time for studies and in addition, workouts at Gym daily for an hour.
Iron Man Challenge
Iron Man Challenge competitions will be held in November 2023 at Goa and the winner of this competition will get an opportunity to participate in International Iron Man Competitions to be held at America later.
The Goa competition includes 1.5-km of Swimming, 90-km Cycling and 21-km Running. The more difficult Iron Man Challenge to be held in America includes 3-km Swimming, 180-km Cycling and Running of 42-km.
Presently, Omkumar is aiming to participate in Goa Iron Man Challenge and hoping to gain entry to participate in the American Iron Man Challenge.
