On 18-1-2013, in SLP (Civil) No:8519/2006, the Hon’ble Supreme Court ordered as under:

4………………… We further direct that henceforth , state govt., shall not grant any permission for installation of any statue in Public Roads, Pavements, Sideways and other Public utility places. Obviously this order shall not apply to installation of high mast lights, Street lights or construction relating to electrification, traffic , toll or for development and beatification of the streets, Highways, Roads etc and relating to Public utility facilities.

    5. The above order shall also apply to all other states and union territories. The Chief Secretaries / Administrators shall ensure compliance of the above order.

The above order was cited in WP 49960/ 2017 and the Division Bench of Karnataka High Court in its order dated 29-1-2018 said: In view of the abov matter requires consideration . Issue Rule .
Impugned order dated 3-3-2017, issued by Govt. pf Karanataka permitting installation of Statue of Sri. Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamy is stayed pending disposal of this writ petition.

Despite the above unambiguous order of the Supreme Court and High Court, how can the CM unveil the statue of Sri. Ramakrishna and Dr. Ambedkar which is either in the middle of a circle or a public utility ? I don’t think Dr. Ambedkar himself would have approved such contemptuous act by a head of the state. DC and Chief Secretary also equally responsible for this gross abuse !
