Coding Academy and Incubation Centre at Mysore University soon: MP

June 22, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: For the first time, the State Government has given its assent to start the Coding Academy and Incubation Centre at University of Mysore, said Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha.

He was speaking after inaugurating a special vaccination drive for Varsity employees at Senate Bhavan in city yesterday.

Simha said that on the lines of Coding and Incubation Centre in France, a similar Centre is planned at Mysore University for which the State Government has shown the green signal. However, this Centre requires a spacious building measuring 10,000 sq ft. The University has come forward to handover the first floor of Senate Bhavan for this purpose and necessary steps will be taken soon for the establishment of this Centre, he added.

The MP said that most of the students come to the Varsity for a bright future and they required not only education but also training in employment and skill development. The proposed Coding Academy and Incubation Centre will play an important role in this regard, he said. “The ten-lane Highway project between Mysuru and Bengaluru is expected to be complete by 2022 and this will bring more industries to Mysuru, which in turn will  create job opportunities for local youths,” he added.

UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar said the Varsity has plans to vaccinate over 1,000 of its employees. Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan had given instructions for vaccinating all the staff and students of the University. This became possible due to the co-operation of MP Pratap Simha, he added.

He said that it was a matter of prestige that the Coding and the Incubation Centre will be started in the Varsity and added that the Centre will start functioning from the first floor of Senate Bhavan in the next six months. “Imparting education to students was not sufficient as they need to be shown the way of life. Imparting training to students in their areas of interest will make them better employable,” he added.

Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa, Syndicate member E.C. Ningarajegowda, Chief Medical Officer of University Health Centre Dr. Basavaraj, DHO Dr. K.H. Prasad, Nodal Officer for  COVID-19 Vaccination Dr. L. Ravi and others were present.
