Virajpet: A 22-year-old girl student, reportedly committed suicide by hanging self with a veil at the Police Quarters in Virajpet town yesterday.

The deceased is H.K. Madhumita, daughter of D-Group employee at Police Department H.P. Kumar and Tejawathi couple.

Deceased Madhumita was studying second year B.Sc course at Maharani’s College in Mysuru and was staying at a Paying Guest (PG) accommodation. A few months back, she had vacated the PG and returned home where she was staying with her parents at the Police Quarters. She used to daily commute to college to Mysuru, it is learnt.

Yesterday at about 7 am, her mother was busy with household chores and her father Kumar had gone for work. Upon returning from work, Kumar found his daughter hanging from the ceiling in her room. Virajpet Town Police have registered a case and are investigating.
