Contented to be in active politics for 55 years: S.M. Krishna

August 11, 2021

Maddur: “I have completed 55 years of active politics and now I am feeling it is enough. Hitherto, life expectancy of man was 50 years but I was active in public life for 55 years,” said former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna.

Talking to reporters during his visit to Ugra Narasimhaswamy Temple here on Monday, he said “I quit active politics long back. It is wrong to talk about politics in a place of worship.”

Active worker

Stating that he was closely watching the current politics, Krishna said the new Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s father, late S.R. Bommai was a good friend of his. The incumbent CM was very active in the State Legislative Council while he (Krishna) was the CM. Bommai studies subjects in detail and understands it. Besides, he is always active, Krishna noted.

The former CM said several farmer leaders had met him and submitted memorandum to put pressure on the State Government for the early starting of MySugar factory. It will be discussed by elected representatives and Government for its revival.

“Let there be no confusion on the running of MySugar factory — Private or Government. Farmer representatives and Government representatives must sit together and take suitable decision. I have no information regarding latest developments in this regard,” he added.

CM meets ex-CM

Meanwhile, CM Basavaraj Bommai met S.M. Krishna at his residence in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru on Monday and sought his guidance. Recently, Bommai had met former PM H.D. Deve Gowda too at his Padmanabhanagar residence to take his blessings.
