Contract workers of Hospitals threaten stir

March 2, 2018

Mysuru: The Mysuru District Government Hospitals and Medical College Contract Workers Association has threatened to stage a stir if the hospitals do not pay wages equivalent to those serving in local bodies, as directed by the Labour Department.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Association office-bearers Chamaraju, Srikanth, Venkatalakshmi and Mahaguna said that although the Labour Department has directed the hospitals to pay wages stipulated by it for non-clinical staff and other contract workers, the District and Taluk Government Hospitals have failed to pay minimum wages.

Setting a 15-day deadline for the hospitals and Medical College to implement the rule on minimum wages, they warned of staging a stir if their demand is not met within the deadline.
