Mysuru, Nov.5 (RK&KS)- A couple, who was moving around in a Maruti Omni van and burgling petty shops, has been arrested by Udayagiri Police.

The arrested are 42-year-old Afsar Ahmed and his wife 24-year-old Umme Salma of Bengaluru.

The Police have recovered Rs.16,000 cash and cigarette packs besides seizing tools used for breaking locks and the van used for committing the crimes.

The couple used to move around in the van during night and break open the locks of petty shops and burgle cash and other things from the shops. 

The couple, who had burgled about five petty shops in Bengaluru, had come to Mysuru and was planning to burgle petty shops in Udayagiri Police limits when the Police arrested them.

The accused were produced before a Magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody.
