Cyber crimes: State Cops sharpen probe skills with Bavarian help, says ADGP

October 31, 2025

Mysuru, Oct. 31 – Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Training, Alok Kumar has said, following the spurt in cyber crimes in the recent days, the State Police are being trained with the help of Bavarian delegates from Germany.

Alok Kumar was addressing the gathering during the passing out parade of 9th batch of probationary Women Civil Police Constables at the Parade Grounds of Police Training School (PTS), Jyothinagar in city this morning.

“Digitalisation has changed the pattern of crime with the perpetrators operating the racket from the comfort of their homes. Despite the increase in number of internet users and people being aware of the pitfalls they have to come across, still some among them are falling prey to cyber crime,” rued the ADGP citing the reasons for seeking foreign expertise to equip investigation skills to trace the cases.

Of late, women Police probationers are being trained on par with men, gradually doing away with what was perceived as a gender bias, in the guidelines framed for foundation training of men and women Police. All the 246 women Police probationers are trained like men, unlike how the women Police probationers were trained in compliance with a manual different from that of their men counterparts. Be it training on Self Loading Rifle (SLR), push up, arms, bike riding, indoor and outdoor training, the women are being provided training equal to that of men.

Saying that Karnataka State was first in the country to announce one-day menstrual leave without any pay cut for women employees every month, ADGP Alok Kumar said, in the coming days, the family members of women Police personnel will be counselled during their marriages. The in-laws will be counselled, to educate them about cooperating with their daughters-in-law working in the Police, who will be attending to challenging tasks, sometimes working for late hours.

“Prior to joining Police force, you may have had both better and bitter experiences at Police Stations. But whenever anybody comes to the Station you should be cordial and treat them with a service motive,” he said.

He suggested them to continue with fitness related exercise, as women are more prone to ailments compared to men.

Stressing on staying away from corrupt practices, Alok Kumar referred to the latest case, where a former top official of a private company had shared his unsavoury experience about how he had to grease the palms of Police, to get the reports of his deceased daughter. He asked the Police to keep the honour of the letter of acknowledgment they sign during recruitment, against taking part in any corrupt practices. If such was the case of a former top official, what about the fate of the common man? asked Alok Kumar.

DIGP (Southern Range) Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah, DCP (Law and Order) R.N. Bindu Mani, Principal of PTS Geetha Prasanna, ADGP, Bavaria, Manfred Gigl, Additional SP Ralf Eireiner, Deputy Director of Karnataka Police Academy S.L. Chennabasavanna and others were present.
