DC asks officials to prepare error-free electoral rolls

Mysuru: With no scope for carrying out corrections in the electoral rolls at the Deputy Commi-ssioner’s Office, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham has asked the electoral personnel of the district to be careful and watchful while preparing the voter list.

He was speaking at a video-conference with Electoral Officers of the District in the backdrop of Legislative Council Polls from Local Authorities Constituencies that is scheduled to take place on Dec. 10, at his office here on Monday.

Pointing out that the scrutiny of electoral rolls can be done in a short period, the DC asked the officials to pay special attention in respect of addition and deletion of names in the voters list and also stressed on the need for an error-free electoral rolls.

Referring to the Model Code of Conduct,  Dr. Bagadi Gautham  said it has come to light that some prospective candidates were carrying out poll campaigns in Government vehicles at Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud.

Noting that such vehicles will be seized, the DC said that holding of meetings, functions and the like have been banned. The Tahsildar and other top officials have been directed to use their authority to ensure proper maintenance of the Model Code of Conduct in their respective limits.

Asking the officials to use their discretion in granting permission for family functions, he emphasised that unnecessary programmes must not be given permission. He also instructed officials to check stocking and sale of liquor and to ensure a free and fair conduct of elections.
