Mysore/Mysuru: “Desiranga, by imparting knowledge of theatre and folk dance to youths for the last 18 years, is not only contributing to folk art of Mysuru but also helping youths to come out of cell phone addiction,” said Maharani’s College for Women’s Prof. K.E. Govindegowda while speaking at a ‘Theatre Training and Dance Festival’ programme organised by Desiranga at Kalamandira in the city recently.
“Desiranga is imparting theatre training and teaching folk dances to college students for the last 18 years and contributing to the growth of Mysuru folk art. In addition, it is helping youths to showcase their hidden talents and come out of their addiction to cell phones,” he said.
Observing that with the increased growth of technology, the human skills must also grow, the Professor regretted that instead, technology is snatching away the jobs in agricultural and industrial sectors. Technology is also resulting in the disappearance of our skills.
“Many urban youths, who are lured by the attractions of urban life, have surrendered themselves to lead a life without doing any work. This has resulted in them facing various health issues like blood pressure, diabetes and others,” he added and concluded by saying that it is good to see that Desiranga through its workshops, is trying to better the personality of the youths.
Desiranga Director Krishna Janamana, Prof. Dinamani and others were present at the function. Youths who attended the workshop were given certificates.
