Dining Hall inaugurated at Government  School in Medar Block

January 22, 2018

Mysuru: A newly-built Dining Hall at Government High School, Medar Block, Bamboo Bazar, was inaugurated this morning.

Speaking after inaugurating the Hall, Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy said that it was a very special programme as it benefited a large number of students.

Highlighting the role of teachers and cooks in proper maintenance of the building, Ganapathy observed that cooks had to be extra careful and cook food like they are cooking for their own children.

Pointing out that there was no greater asset than education, he said that education comes first and money later.

Calling upon the students not to discontinue education midway, he stressed that in the present world education is the greatest strength for a young man looking for a job.

Complimenting the good work done by area Corporator D. Nagabhushan, Ganapathy suggested the Legislators to utilise the Legislator’s Local Area Development Funds in the most appropriate manner.

MLA Vasu, in his address, said that the dining hall has been built at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh out of his Local Area Development Fund.

Stating that Medar Block was one of the oldest localities of Mysuru, he said that the block was once called a slum area as it was dotted with huts, in which the working class lived. But the area has greatly transformed itself, with many developmental works being taken up in the past  four-and-a-half years of Congress government.

Explaining the development works taken up in his Chamaraja Assembly segment, Vasu said plans were afoot to establish a Government Science PU College, for which a suitable site is being looked for.

Several BPL card beneficiaries of Medar Block were distributed LPG stoves and cylinders out the MCC grant on the  occasion.
